Finance expert Ulrika Lobo named Women in Finance Awards finalist

Ulrika Lobo, Director of Sparrow Loans

The Women in Finance Awards 2022 shines a light on every highly skilled and talented woman propelling the finance industry forward. Considered the pinnacle of innovation and excellence, the program was created to highlight the impressive achievements of top leading women in the sector, recognising them for their remarkable contribution and expertise.

What is the market expertise of Ulrika?

Although Ulrika Lobo started her career as a Manufacturing Engineer, she has found her calling in Finance. “I enjoy my career in finance much more. This is a space full of challenges and opportunities, where maintaining relationships and handling expectations are key,” says Lobo. Ulrika said she was humbled to be recognised as a finalist in the Women in Finance Awards.

Ulrika has nearly a decade of experience in finance, underpinned by an MBA and a Master of Finance. She was recognised as Western Sydney Women’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2021.

What Ulrika’s thoughts on Sparrow Loans funding?

Sparrow Loans was also recently approved for a $50 million institutional funding line, reinforcing investor confidence in the business’ expansion plans and reflecting the opportunities available in the private debt industry. “Securing this new funding line was an essential next step in Sparrow Loans’ evolution. It opens up so many doors, allowing us to fund property investors, developers, and small to medium businesses,” says Ulrika.

“The business sees nearly $200m worth of referrals in deal flow per annum, which it can now start funding with this additional capital,” she said. The private lending industry has achieved staggering growth over the past half-decade. Banks with restrictive lending and inflexible loan terms have created a prime space for private credit to boom. This will continue as the RBA raises the cash rate and banks begin tightening their serviceability under the squeeze.

“Sparrow Loan’s recognition for our contribution to the private lending industry reinforces the strength of our service and dedication to our investors and borrowers. There are some fantastic finalists in the awards this year, too. Good luck to all the finalists!” she concluded.
