Mendix, a Siemens business and global modern low-code enterprise application development platform, has partnered with global logistics provider Toll Group, supporting the firm’s ambitious modernisation effort. Implementing Mendix has enabled Toll Group to rapidly build multiple custom applications in 12 months, enhancing operational efficiency and customer solutions, while empowering business users with no coding experience to build applications.
Why did Toll Group tap Mendix’s solution?
Operating in 25 countries across the planet, with about 500 sites and an extensive freight forwarding network, Toll Group is one of the world’s largest integrated logistics and supply chain management organisations. As the logistics industry rapidly evolves, with changing customer demands and growing competition, Toll Group recognised the need for its core systems and processes to become more agile to adapt to this dynamic business landscape.
Prior to embarking on its IT modernisation, like many firms, Toll Group relied on legacy IT systems. These systems encompassed a various development tech and languages resulting in a scattered IT landscape. It was in this environment, that Toll Group saw the potential to optimising operational efficiency and boosting profitability by streamlining its processes.
By modernising its process, it would ultimately enable Toll Group to remain agile and respond promptly to market dynamics and changing customer preferences. As a strategic step Toll Group determined the need to digitise its processes and adopt an IT-focused approach.
Throughout this journey, Toll Group recognised that achieving true modernisation required a significant organisational and cultural shift, with a focus on empowering both business and IT staff to embrace Mendix’s low-code tech. To foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, Mendix worked with Toll Group to organise hackathons, bringing non-IT employees together to experience Mendix firsthand and ideate on solutions to mitigate real business problems.
By adopting the groundbreaking Mendix low-code platform, Toll Group has successfully replaced several manual processes with digital solutions. This move has not only streamlined workflows, but improved information flows across the organisation. Within a year of implementing Mendix’s low-code platform, Toll Group has achieved remarkable outcomes, delivering multiple value-added applications with a 40% reduction in time-to-market.
