Are dogs the key to getting employees back to the office full-time? A recent poll by award winning recruitment company people2people has revealed that in 2023 over three in five employees would be more likely to go into the office if there was a dog, with more than half (53.7%) stating they would be more likely to come in if they could bring their furry friend.
To celebrate and acknowledge how much dogs give back, people2people Recruitment in partnership with global hiring platform board Indeed have jointly announced that entries to the annual highly-anticipated OZTOPDOG competition will open on Monday, 10th July 2023.
What is the mission behind the OZTOPDOG competition?
The country’s top canine that demonstrates a commitment to improving the work lives of their human colleagues will be awarded the title of Australia’s Top Office Dog. Alongside the Top Office Dog will be the winners of Top Dog with a Job and the Top Dog People’s Choice.
Commenting on the awards, Catherine Kennedy, people2people Recruitment’s Managing Director, said, “Our OZTOPDOG competition is now in its third year and we are expecting 2023 to be bigger and better than ever. Since the rise of remote work, dogs at work and dogs that work have been well recognised for their positive impact on our mental health.”
“In the last three years of this campaign in Australia, we have received countless entries showcasing how dogs can improve your wellbeing, whether you’re working from the office or from home, and this is without mentioning the contribution of working dogs,” Kennedy said.

Indeed’s Marketing Director Rachael Townsley said, “Research from Indeed revealed that 30% of Aussies adopted a pet in the last three years. And the most enthusiastic pet adopters are millennials with 50% of them owning a pet, compared to just 17% of baby boomers.”
“Given the proven positive impact dogs have on people inside and outside of the workplace, we’re extremely thrilled to be a part of this initiative and are excited to see the entries roll in.”
