Shouta Biz takes a new-age approach to traditional corporate gift-giving

In the lead-up to Plastic-Free July, the team at fintech startup Shouta are encouraging businesses to reconsider their gift-giving practices and adopt a sustainable approach to corporate gifting. CEO and co-founder, Carly Shamgar, has seen a rise in businesses opting for sustainable corporate gifting approaches, like Shouta’s business platform, Shouta Biz.

What is the market offering of Shouta Biz?

Shouta Biz is a digital gifting platform that allows users to shout employees, customers and clients a next-gen digital gift card, sent instantly, straight to their phone. Pick from featured shouts including coffee, drinks, movie tickets or dream up any gift you’d like.

Recipients receive a link to a reloadable, digital Shouta Mastercard which allows them to tap and pay anywhere Mastercard is accepted, straight from their digital wallet.

“Businesses know that there are many different ways to impact company culture and incentivise team members. Shouta Biz is allowing more businesses to tap into these types of rewards through digital nano-gifts that are flexible, personalised and instant,” says Shamgar.

“Corporate gifting can be hard to navigate – vouchers can seem impersonal and selecting a gift can be a daunting task. Branded coffee mugs are often left unused and unwanted gifts can end up in landfill. Shouta Biz provides a new-age, sustainable approach to gifting.”

Many companies have switched to Shouta Biz for corporate and customer gifting including the likes of Marketboomer, Mortgage Ezy, LUCA plus, Stone & Chalk, and Milklab.

What are the thoughts of the clients on the initiative?

Stephanie Giannetto, the Operations & Marketing Coordinator from Australia’s largest independent media agency, Atomic 212, says that reducing waste and streamlining the gifting process so it was quick and easy was a huge win for the company and the environment.

“It’s a great win for the environment because everything is done digitally – no packaging, no plastic, and trips to the shops required. We first started using Shouta Biz during lockdown to stay connected to our remote team, but we’ve loved it so much it’s our new go-to for corporate gifting. Employees don’t want another branded water bottle from their boss, let’s be honest, they’d prefer a flexible gift they can spend anywhere,” says Giannetto.

“Shouta Biz is a way of giving employees what they want, but still making it personalised and branded.” Since launch, if firms that had sent shouts had instead opted for plastic gift cards, there would have been about 115kg of extra plastic ending up in landfill. Unlike traditional gift cards, shouts can be spent anywhere in store or online – wherever Mastercard is accepted.

What are the standout functionalities of Shouta Biz?

The online process is easy to set up and has functionality that allows companies to:

  • Gift up to 50 people at once
  • Refund any unclaimed gifts
  • Schedule gifts
  • Customise gifts with personalised messages and images
  • Top-up reloadable, digital Shouta Mastercards whenever they choose

“Plastic-free July is a great time for organisations across the globe to find small ways of reducing their environmental footprint. Swapping plastic gift cards and physical gifts for a digital option is a small task that can make a big impact on the environment,” says Shamgar.
