Exclusive data from Instant Offices, has revealed that there has been a dramatic 97% increase in AUS searches for “how to recover from burnout”, showing workers are mentally drained and overwhelmed in today’s demanding work-life climate. The data also shows that searches for “burnout symptoms” are up 68%, and “sign of burnout” are up 62%.
The World Health Organization (WHO) have called burnout an “occupational phenomenon”, that causes exhaustion, feeling of negativity, and reduced professional efficiency. Instant Offices gave their expert guide on how to spot burnout, and how to recover from it!
What leads to burnout in the workplace?
- High Workload: In the UK, 44% of stress at work is caused by a high workload.
- Unclear Job Expectations: In America, only 60% say they know what is expected.
- Lack of Managerial Support: Different research in the past has shown that those with a strong support system are 70% less likely to experience burnout.
- No Work/Life Balance: Inability to manage work and personal life is a common factor.

What are the career burnout symptoms?
- Disengagement: Over-engagement is a symptom of high-stress levels. Going to sleep and waking up thinking about a problem is a perfect example of over-engagement. When you start to disengage with your work by avoiding it, burnout warning bells should start ringing.
