New Relic, the all-in-one observability platform for every engineer, has announced the appointment of Rob Newell as Vice President of Customer Adoption for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) to oversee the growth of customer success and best practices in observability.
What does Rob Newell bring to New Relic in the role?
Newell has over two decades of technical leadership expertise in the software industry across the APAC region, including 10 years at Salesforce where he most recently held the position of Vice President of Solutions Engineering and Cloud Sales, ASEAN. He has also held senior roles at software development company, IntraLinks and IT consulting firm, ConneXion Limited.
In the newly created role, Newell will be responsible for leading New Relic’s high-performing customer adoption team as they empower businesses with best-practice observability to take a data-driven approach at every stage of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
“The Asia Pacific Japan region is a wonderfully dynamic technology and business environment driving strong digital growth and innovation. It has some of the fastest growing economies in the world, and is home to a significant number of the world’s developers,” commented New Relic Vice President of Customer Adoption for Asia Pacific and Japan, Rob Newell.
“Having been a technologist for many years, I was drawn to New Relic because of its focus on data-driven engineering and all-in-one platform approach. By enabling engineers to have a clear understanding of what’s happening and why across the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC), they are freed up to focus on building the next amazing feature or app.”
“I am thrilled to join the incredible New Relic team and look forward to driving the continued success of our customers and partners across the region,” Rob Newell further commented.
What does the appointment mean for New Relic?
Newell’s appointment comes weeks after another senior leadership hire in the region, Kris Day, who was recently appointed as Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific and Japan.
The APAC Japan region has continued to show strong growth for the company with the opening of two offices in India (Bengaluru and Hyderabad) over the past year covering product development, customer support, sales, marketing, developer relations, and solutions consulting. The Singapore and Australia offices were also certified as a Great Place to Work®.
“Rob brings a wealth of success and experience in technical consulting, solutions, and sales across the APJ region and we are thrilled to have him join our regional leadership team,” commented New Relic Group Vice President of Customer Adoption, Duncan Bradford.
“As a technologist and engineer at heart, Rob understands the complexities of modern environments and the power that full-stack observability can bring to all firms. His deep technical experience coupled with his strong knowledge of the APAC technology landscape will be invaluable to New Relic as we continue to deliver outstanding results for our customers.”
Gartner’s Top Strategic Technology Trends for 2023 report has demonstrated just how important observability is to the industry, with Applied Observability cited as the second most important trend for 2023. This has also marked a shift from a reactive to proactive observability practice so that companies are able to define future business decisions.
Newell’s hire comes off the back of recent product innovations like CodeStream code-level metrics and service-level telemetry and out-of-the-box GPT-4 monitoring. Read more about New Relic CodeStream Code-Level Metrics and New Relic GPT-4 monitoring at newrelic.com.
