Grant Thornton announced changes to its Tax leadership. Sandie Boswell, Partner – Innovations Incentives was appointed the National Managing Partner for Tax, taking over from Nicole Bradley, National Managing Partner – Audit who has held the role since 2019.
What does Sandie bring to Grant Thornton in the role?
Sandie has over 20 years’ experience in R&D Incentives and Government programs. While Sandie’s focus is primarily R&D and incentives, her strong leadership experience, laser focus on the tax industry, and passion for tax reform means she is able to simplify complicated tax issues for customers and help them succeed in the ever-evolving regulatory environment.

Thomas Isbell, Partner – Employment Solutions at Grant Thornton has been appointed to Head of National Specialist Tax. Thomas Isbell brings a wealth of experience, having worked in this space in firms across the United Kingdom and Australia for over 20 years. Thomas and his team advise on a range of International Employment and expatriate tax issues.

Kristina Popova, Partner – State Taxes specialises in advising clients on all aspects of transactions from a revenue law perspective across all Aussie States, including stamp duty, land tax and foreign surcharges. Kristina can unpack the details around State Budgets tax announcements, and proposed reforms to stamp duty and land tax around the country.
Daniel Kave, Partner and Head of Tax in Melbourne has been appointed as Head of Corporate Tax. Daniel has extensive experience providing corporate tax advice and specialises in tax areas like consolidations, structuring for M&A, due diligence, corporate structuring and tax planning, capital gains tax, international tax structuring, and tax loss utilisation.
Himashini Weeraratne, Partner has been appointed as Head of Financial Services Tax. Himashini specialises in providing tax advisory and compliance services to financial service providers, Banks, Fintechs, fund managers, managed funds, superannuation funds and their advisors, with extensive knowledge of regulatory and taxation issues impacting their industry.
Rebecca Iwanuscha, Partner – Innovations Incentives with a background in law and business, brings a unique perspective and experience to a range of industries to access Government Innovation programs, like the R&D Tax Incentive to support innovation strategic plans and the Export Market Development Grant (EMDG). Rebecca focuses her attention on supporting businesses to grow through innovation and access funding support for future growth.
Michael Catterall, Partner and Head of Tax in Sydney has been advising on taxation matters in both Australia and the United Kingdom for over 20 years, with experience in advising on corporate and international tax. Michael has particular expertise in assisting companies as they establish themselves in the Australian market and look to fast-track their growth.
