Eva, the Melbourne-based furniture brand known for its timeless designs marks its 6-year anniversary this month with a bold new website makeover. The update includes a whole new look to the brand and website, mirroring the company’s evolution over the past six years.
What has Eva’s 6-year journey been like?
Since launching in 2017, Eva has surged from a single, award-winning mattress to serving an astounding 70,000+ clients and has diversified its offerings to include versatile furniture for living and dining spaces, all thoughtfully designed to seamlessly blend style and functionality. Eva’s growth rate over this period has been at a huge 692.69% between 2017 and 2022.
Launched by co-founders Amanda Niu and Ken Lau in a North Melbourne self-storage unit, the brand hired its first employee in only six months. Eva has gone from strength to strength, expanding into a thriving business of 25 in-house experts in product design, marketing, supply chain, and customer support. The founders’ commitment to revolutionise furniture-making while championing sustainability also led Eva to earn its B-Corp certification in 2022.
Commenting on the company’s 6-year journey, Amanda Niu, co-founder at Eva, said, “We launched Eva with a simple philosophy: great quality products that won’t break the bank, a brand people could believe in, and a purpose-driven business that can make a difference.”
“This philosophy still rings true today and we believe it’s a key reason behind our success over the past 6 years. Having remained a pure-play retailer up until this year, our goal is to expand into retail further, creating a true omnichannel experience for the Australian market.”
What other milestones has Eva reached in 2023?
In addition to the revamp, Eva revealed their wins at the 2023 Good Design Awards. The business won a Gold Good Design Award for the Slideaway Sofa Bed, as well as a Good Design Award for the Premium Adapt Mattress. This takes the brand to three Good Design Award wins, previously receiving a Good Design Award for its Timber Bed Frame in 2020.
“It is an honour to win two awards at this year’s Good Design Awards. We designed the Slideaway Sofa Bed, with simplicity and sustainability at its core. We took all the elements that our customers love from some of our bestselling products and created it into this lasting, beautiful piece that will seamlessly integrate into everyday living, using materials that match our commitment to sustainability,” commented Tom Shaw, Head of Design at Eva.
“While our Premium Adapt Mattress was uniquely designed to offer the perfect night’s sleep, with nine comfort options to ensure the right fit for all our customers,” said Tom Shaw.
On giving Eva the coveted design award, The Good Design Awards Jury also commented: “The Slideaway Sofa Bed is effortlessly elegant. In addition to its ability to seamlessly transition into a comfortable bed, the sofa also offers a third ‘Netflix mode’ for people wanting to rest their feet. We feel that its contemporary look and hidden drawer will mean people will also want to use it as their everyday sofa, elevating its value in the home.”
