10 million Australians and 40 million Americans have applied for unemployment support during the COVID-19 pandemic and the job market is predicted to become more competitive than ever.
FaceCruit managing director Nick Thompson has announced FaceCruit will be offering free video CVs to people who have lost their job during COVID-19.
FaceCruit is a groundbreaking online platform that allows employers and job seekers to easily integrate video into existing recruitment and job application processes.
What is FaceCruit’s major goal?
“FaceCruit wants to help people get back on their feet. If you’ve lost your job due to COVID-19, simply jump on to FaceCruit and click on the Jobseeker tab and we’ll show you how you can turbo-charge your CV using cutting edge technology,” Thompson said
“FaceCruit’s mission is to shake up a recruitment process that hasn’t changed much in the last 50 years. When you think about it, it’s incredible that employers still shortlist you based on a two-page Word or PDF document.
We want to give job seekers the opportunity to make a more personal impact with employers through a quick video introduction.
“We’ve seen services like ZOOM become a commonplace business tool during the lockdown and we’re predicting that pre-recorded interviews will be just as important as your resume when it comes to job applications.”
FaceCruit offers services for both employers and job seekers. Employers can incorporate the requirement for online video interviews for people applying for positions.
Job seekers can also create an online profile of pre-recorded videos that they can send to employers by embedding their profile link into their digital resume or cover letter.
Employers will also be able to see other information the Jobseeker has uploaded such as qualifications, accolades, even supporting videos from mentors and referees.
According to Thompson, the services offered by FaceCruit are expected to become more important over the next few years, especially after the economic ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The job market is expected to be extremely tight over the next few years. You’re going to see more and more people competing for fewer jobs. Australian job seekers will be wondering how they can stand out from the crowd in such a competitive market.
In today’s day and age, you can’t simply rely on a two-page resume anymore and research shows that including a video as part of your CV increases your chances of getting shortlisted. It’s a definite competitive advantage,” Thompson said.
“Employers want to see that you’re motivated and FaceCruit allows you to prove just how motivated you are. A lot of job seekers don’t want to rely just on their resume when they write an application.
It can be really difficult to make yours stand out from the hundreds of other resumes that employers will look at.
“FaceCruit gives job seekers the opportunity to show employers more about their personality and their character. People definitely underestimate how much your demeanour influences whether you get hired or not.
There is something personal about a video that a resume simply can’t replicate.”
FaceCruit’s services for employers are also expected to prove popular over the next few years. Employers can request that applicants create a FaceCruit profile and complete a customised FaceCruit interview.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted recruitment plans for many companies and as a result, they’re looking to services like FaceCruit to streamline and simplify the recruitment process.
If applicants submit their resume along with a video of themselves responding to specific questions, this enables recruiters to shortlist faster,” Thompson said.
“We’re expecting that companies will get used to video interviews during the COVID-19 pandemic and make them a permanent part of their recruitment processes.
There are so many benefits of short online interviews and it’s surprising that it’s taken a global pandemic for companies to realise them.
“Organising face-to-face interviews is not only time-consuming and costly, they can also be incredibly difficult and frustrating. There are so many factors that can disrupt the process and mean that you miss out on interviewing someone perfect for the role.
“FaceCruit eliminates all of these complications. The candidate can’t turn up late to the interview and push everyone back. The candidate could even be in a different country and conduct an interview.
Not only that, you’re less constrained by time and money in how many interviews you conduct. It’s much easier to conduct 50 video interviews than 50 face-to-face interviews.
“For employers, FaceCruit offers an entire platform and dashboard of recruitment management services including pre-screening tools, introduction and exit videos, branding and the ability to review, rate and share short listed candidates with internal and external stakeholders, among other things.
“We know how powerful a video CV can be. That’s why we have decided to offer free services to people who have lost their jobs because of COVID.
FaceCruit will help them find their next place of work – hopefully a lot faster than anticipated,” Thompson added.
FaceCruit was founded by the current managing director Nick Thompson, who has 15 years of experience in sales leadership and recruitment.
