CryptoSpend’s new Visa prepaid card for spending anywhere, anytime

Andrew Grech, Chief Executive Officer & Co-founder of CryptoSpend

CryptoSpend, a Sydney-based start-up, has announced a new CryptoSpend Visa prepaid card, which delivers cryptocurrencies to the mass Australian market, available from September.

The card is the latest advancement for CryptoSpend, who are leading the way with simplifying crypto payments and making cryptocurrencies easier to spend for everyday Australians.

Inspiration for CryptoSpend’s new Visa prepaid card

“It all started a few years ago when I got my first exposure to the world of cryptocurrencies.”

“It occurred to me that crypto wasn’t being used as a currency, but instead a commodity. So we set out to change that.” Andrew Grech, CEO & co-founder of CryptoSpend said.

“Today we are able to support our customers with a card that is simple to access, simple to use and has no hidden fees. It is all about making crypto easier to use for the mass market.”

With a rapidly growing customer base, the CryptoSpend card will be obtainable through the CryptoSpend app, allowing customers to get both a physical and digital card.

The card supports multiple cryptocurrencies, including BTC, ETH and XRP, and customers will be able to spend straight from their crypto wallet after selecting the crypto they wish to spend.

“It simplifies crypto spending for Australians and is a safe, secure environment for people to pay a bill, send crypto to a mate, or even cash out their crypto to Australian dollars.”

Commentary on CryptoSpend’s new Visa prepaid card

Axel Boye-Moller, Head of Product & Solutions, ANZ at Visa said, “Crypto Visa cards are making it easier to spend your cryptocurrency on everyday items, anywhere Visa is accepted.”

“That could be paying for weekly groceries, a pair of shoes, or a home delivered meal.”

“This solution connects the simplicity of the ‘tap to pay’ checkout with digital currency, and the SMBs on the other end don’t need to change a thing about accepting payments.”

The CryptoSpend Visa prepaid card can be used anywhere Visa is accepted and doesn’t require merchants to accept cryptocurrencies at the checkout or create new cryptographic keys.

More than US$1bn has been spent on crypto Visa cards in the first half of 2021 globally.
