Space Machines readies for liftoff, closes SpaceX launch services deal

Space Machines Company (SMC), the Australian in-space transportation and logistics startup, announced it has secured the support of SpaceX as a launch partner to carry its Optimus Orbital Transfer Vehicle (OTV) to space as part of its April 2023 mission. SMC's Optimus OTV is one of the largest commercial spacecraft designed and manufactured in Australia. It is a testament to the innovation of Australia's space tech sector and the capability being built by SMC. The 2023 mission will demonstrate the 270 kg Optimus OTV’s ability to deliver in-space logistics services and will reinforce SMC’s strategy as a last-mile delivery services provider. The 2023 mission will also see SMC deploy solutions for foundation customers.

‘Money with Jess’ by Jess Irvine has won Business Book of the Year at the fourth Smart WFM Australian Business Book Awards. The Awards were presented in a virtual ceremony held on 22nd November and saw more than $12,000 donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. The awards were founded by bestselling business author Andrew Griffiths and publishing expert Michael Hanrahan. They enable non-fiction business authors to share wisdom with colleagues and public. The Awards donate all profits to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which invests in more than 400 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander remote communities to provide tools and resources to shape the direction of their children’s literacy future.

Zoho Corp announces milestone growth for its platform Zoho One

Over the past two years alone, the platform has grown 150%, with 37.5% of new Zoho One customers coming from mid-market and enterprise businesses. Licence upgrades by customers who adopted Zoho One five years ago have increased 92%, contributing to this milestone growth.

Data solutions firm ASA hires 100th employee, expands to Melbourne

Australian Spatial Analytics (ASA), a data solutions not-for-profit social enterprise employing young autistic and neurodiverse adults, announced significant growth and expansion plans, including the hiring of its 100th employee and the opening of a new Melbourne office. Trading since January 2021, 80% of ASA’s workforce today live with a disability, namely autism spectrum disorder and ADHD, and 85% are under 30 years old. Before working at Australian Spatial Analytics (ASA), most were long-term unemployed and almost half are in their first job. Currently, ASA’s employees are working a combined 6,500 hours per month at award wages, resulting in over $250,000 in wages being paid to staff each month.
