LinkedIn casts campaign to accent Indigenous Aussie workplace terrain

LinkedIn has launched the latest iteration of its #ConversationsForChange initiative with a new content series in partnership with Indigenous-led creative consultancy, Campfire X. The three-part series, titled ‘Change Starts With’, aims to highlight the subtle, everyday moments that impact Indigenous Australians in the workplace. The campaign encourages non Indigenous Australians to consider how their unconscious biases can make workplaces less culturally safe for Indigenous people. The campaign launches in the lead-up to Reconciliation Week, and runs for two weeks across both Linkedin and its local social channels.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) announced its partnership with fintech training platform 10x1000 Tech for Inclusion to recruit local talents to enroll in 10x1000’s Flex Fintech Foundation Program. This deal forms part of Kominfo’s Digital Entrepreneurship Academy (DEA) program, which aims to nurture talents to accelerate digital transformation in entrepreneurship, with a target of 60,000 people being trained in 2022.

The Society of Publishers in Asia casts 2022 journalism awards finalists

The Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA), a Hong Kong-based non-profit firm dedicated to pursuing excellence in journalism, announced the finalists for the SOPA 2022 Awards (full list). Global, regional and local media outlets submitted over 750 entries in English and Chinese. SOPA is celebrating the 40th anniversary since its founding in Hong Kong in 1982. The annual awards recognizing great journalism in the Asia Pacific region have been given out every year since 1999. This year’s winners will be announced on June 16 at the virtual SOPA Awards Gala and live-streamed on SOPA Asia’s YouTube channel from 7pm Hong Kong time.

GCCA launches program to support sustainable tech by industry startups

The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) revealed the first six start-ups that will be backed by its member companies as part of the first ever Innovandi ‘Open Challenge’ in the race to ‘net zero’ by 2050. The six start-ups, which were chosen from more than 100 entrants to the Open Challenge, hail from the USA, Canada, UK, Italy and the Netherlands.

WLA renews grants for Aboriginal and Torres Strait leadership development

For a fifth straight year, Women & Leadership Australia (WLA) has renewed attendance grants to support leadership development of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in Australia. Valued at over $60,000 in total, the grants will be offered to current and aspiring women leaders to attend a national series of Symposium events focused on the experiences of women in the contemporary workforce. There are a total of 32 attendance tickets on offer for the ‘in-person’ Symposiums and 18 tickets available for the online Symposium.
