To make it easier for firms to balance price and performance in their cloud environments and reduce costs, Oracle announced plans to make available new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Compute E5 instances with 4th generation AMD EPYC™ processors. Unlike other cloud providers’ rigid instance options that bind organisations to paying more for unused computing resources, flexible instances from OCI allow clients to allocate cores and memory as needed.

Armis, the asset visibility and security firm, released research identifying the riskiest devices that pose threats to critical infrastructure sectors: manufacturing, utilities and transportation. Data analyzed from the Armis Asset Intelligence and Security Platform, which tracks over three billion assets, found that the operational technology (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS) devices that present the highest risk to these industries are engineering workstations, SCADA servers, automation servers, historians and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

NetApp®, a cloud-led, data-centric software company, released its 2023 State of CloudOps report, an annual survey exploring the state of CloudOps and how IT decision makers feel about the ways their organizations are working to optimize their environments. The report found that only 33% of executives are “very confident” in their ability to operate in a public cloud environment, an increase from 2022 when only 21% reported feeling very confident.

Graco Inc., a fluid handling equipment provider, launched its Electric Variable Ratio Metering System. Available for customization, the EVR™ allows manufacturers to change ratios as they mix, meter and dispense two component (2K) material – all with the same equipment. While developing EVR tech, Graco worked with material suppliers about trying different ratios and viscosities for research and development purposes, for example, when design engineers write product specifications. The high flow EVR can move up to 6,400 cubic centimeters per minute, while flexing dispense ratios anywhere between 1:1 to 5:1 or 2:1 to 10:1.

Zscaler, Inc., the cloud security solutions firm, announced a set of advanced security solutions designed for IT and security teams to leverage the full potential of generative AI while also preserving the safety of enterprises’ intellectual property and their clients’ data. By employing its vast data pool, Zscaler utilises AI/ML or generative AI to not only predict breaches but also recommend policies to deliver superior threat detection, prevention, and response.
