An Andrews Labor Government backed investment fund for women-led startups is celebrating one-year helping local entreprenuers unlocking millions in capital. Minister for Innovation, Medical Research and the Digital Economy Jaala Pulford joined LaunchVic and the recipients of the Alice Anderson Fund overnight to celebrate its achievements so far and drive forward its goal of backing 60 women-led startups by 2024.

SMBs that adopt Eagle Eye Networks technology are eligible for tax break

Eagle Eye Networks, a company in cloud video surveillance and AI, announced its cloud video surveillance tech will be eligible for the Technology Investment Boost–a 20% tax deduction for small businesses that invest in digital technologies, including cloud video surveillance. Designed to encourage businesses to embrace the digital revolution by investing in new technologies, the Technology Investment Boost was introduced to Parliament in March. SMBs with less than $50m in revenues can receive a $120 tax deduction for every $100 spent on digital tech--such as cloud computing and cybersecurity--up to an annual cap of $100,000.

APAC has lower unemployment, more vacancies than before the pandemic

PRO Unlimited, an integrated workforce management (IWM) platform provider, released the results of its July 2022 APAC Labor Market Report. The analysis highlights the employment rebound in full swing throughout the region and its implications. Despite unemployment figures in Australia, Singapore and Malaysia dropping to or below pre-pandemic levels, these countries have seen vacancies increase by 83%, 127% and 111%, respectively.
