Aussie owned Catch.com.au opens the doors to its 36,000 square metre fulfilment centre in Sydney’s Moorebank. The new fulfilment centre is the retailer’s next step in realising its long term goal to give Australians the most convenient and plentiful online shopping experience.
The centre marks Catch.com.au’s third fulfilment centre (the first in Sydney) laying the base for an improved delivery experience for the Eastern seaboard. For clients in Queensland and NSW where orders are filled out of the new site, they can receive items within 24-48 hours.
How will this centre help Catch.com.au clients?
The facility will help clients get products when they need them, right across Australia with a greater product offering and improved delivery times. The new centre will also employ over 200 people between now and peak, contributing to economic growth within NSW.
Catch.com.au’s Managing Director Pete Sauerborn says the business has prioritised customer satisfaction and delivery times of its customers; the driving factor of this business decision.
“As an Australian owned and founded business, servicing Aussies in a convenient way is at the core of what we do. The pandemic really showed consumers how beneficial online shopping can be, and with increasing demand we knew we needed to increase our fulfilment capacity.”
“What our Sydney fulfilment centre will offer is more: more products, an expanded team, increased robotics and advanced warehouse technology, and an increased ability to service Australians more efficiently. We are able to do this with highly sophisticated technology, making this new centre our most technologically advanced to date,” Sauerborn said.
What is unique about Catch’s new centre?
Efficiency is at the heart of Catch’s Sydney fulfilment centre, with over 360 Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) deployed to bring racks of product to team members, with the technology working alongside the Catch team to aid a more efficient workplace.
By decreasing the time between customer orders and the processing stage, out of stock orders will reduce much further and inventory levels will be more accurate, which is a must for the growing Australian retailer and increased customer demand. At optimal capacity, Catch.com.au’s robots can pick over 105,000 units per day via 5,800 mobile racks.
Catch.com.au has pioneered warehouse tech with its two Melbourne centres, and the third warehouse puts customer satisfaction first by strengthening the retailer’s logistics footprint.
Environmentally-friendly processing will be at the core of automation at the new centre, with box sizing tech to ensure packaging fits to size for each order, minimising waste. The site also showcases environmentally friendly design across the development including intelligent lighting, water tanks to supply on-site gardens and toilets, double glazing and solar panels.
Catch.com.au’s Sydney fulfilment centre is now operating, providing an improved shopping experience for Australians on the eastern seaboard. The facility advances the company’s commitment to innovation and automation, providing value to its clients, and jobs in NSW.
