As the virtual 2020 Cancer Run nears, participants across the world are in high spirits to take part in a first of a kind virtual Cancer Run 2020.
Sensational Rugby Star Bryan Habana and Tyson Gay, an American Olympic 100 meter Gold medal winner have become the latest celebrated sportsmen to endorse the 2020 Virtual Run.
“I encourage everyone one to take part in the Rotary Cancer Run so that we make Cancer a history, as we stay fit and healthy”, Tyson said, while Habana mentioned that “you can all run or walk from the comfort of your homes virtually, anywhere in the world, to help kick Cancer out of Africa”.
The Run that is organized by Rotary Uganda in partnership with lead sponsor’s including Centenary Bank who committed Ushs 100 million, will be held on 30th August 2020.
What will the day’s program include?
On the event day, the virtual Rotary Cancer Run will be streamed live on the Uganda Rotary Cancer Program website and official Rotary Cancer Run Facebook Page. The day will kick start with aerobics at 7.00 am, revealed Denis Jjuuko the Chairman of the 2020 Cancer Run.
Jjuuko added that “we continue to encourage Ugandans to donate towards this moral cause, as the proceeds from the run will be dedicated towards the construction of the Rotary-Centenary Bank Cancer Centre at Nsambya Hospital, and procurement of two Linear Accelerators and two bunkers to house them”.
“I, therefore, call upon all Ugandans to take part in this year’s virtual run, from the comfort of their homes or communities, and can also go ahead to post a picture or video on their social media platforms with the hashtag #2020RotaryCancerRun, Jjuuko concluded.
Donations for the 2020 Cancer Run can be made through CenteMobile platform by dialing *211#, select Centenary Bank branches, or CenteAgent by sending the contribution to Account Number 3100023145 (Account Name: Rotary Cancer Run).
Additionally participants can purchase a face mask at Ushs 10,000 at select Capital Shoppers outlets, Café Javas, Game Store Lugogo, and Rotary Offices at 9th Floor NIC Building.
