Blackmagic Design launches suite of new products and new iPhone app

Award winning Melbourne-based film tech company Blackmagic Design announced a suite of products including a brand new full frame, L mount camera (the Cinema Camera 6K) and the Blackmagic Camera, a new app which adds digital film camera controls to the Apple iPhone.

What are the new Blackmagic products launched?

It has also launched new versions of its Micro Studio Camera and Studio Camera 4K Plus, and Videohub 80×80 12G router and larger ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel 20 and 30 models.

Cinema Camera 6K: Available now for US$2,595

  • Next generation digital film camera with 6K full frame sensor with OLPF, L-Mount, CFexpress media, plus simultaneous, Blackmagic RAW and H.264 proxy recording for cloud workflows!
    • 36 x 24mm full frame 6K 6048 x 4032 sensor.
    • Open gate 3:2, full height 6:5 anamorphic and Super 35 for creating cinematic content.
    • L-Mount compatible with a wide range of still photography and cinema lenses.
    • Dual native ISO up to 25,600 for incredible low light performance
    • Records full resolution up to 36 fps or 120 fps windowed.

Blackmagic Camera app: Free and available now

  • New Blackmagic Camera gives digital film camera controls for shooting cinematic, feature film quality anywhere on their iPhone.
  • Based on the same operating system as Blackmagic Design’s award winning digital film cameras, these professional features give iPhone content creators the same tools used in feature films, television and documentaries. Support for Blackmagic Cloud allows creators to collaborate and share media with multiple editors and colorists around the world instantly.

Micro Studio Camera G2: Available in October for US$995

  • The world’s smallest Ultra HD live production camera with upgraded 4K sensor and 12G-SDI in a tiny body you can place virtually anywhere.
  • Retains the compact design of the original model, but is upgraded with a 4K digital film sensor with 13 stops of dynamic range and dual native ISO up to 25,600 for incredible low light performance.
  • Adds 12G-SDI for operation up to 2160p60, and a new USB-C expansion port for recording Blackmagic RAW to external disks as well as network control via Ethernet adapters.

Studio Camera 4K Plus G2: Available immediately for US$1,345

  • Updated Studio Camera 4K model adds 12G-SDI and remote camera control via REST APIs for improved broadcast workflows.
  • Adds ethernet support to the USB-C expansion port for remote camera control over networks using REST APIs, and talkback on 3.5mm headsets.
  • Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Plus G2 retains the same 4K digital film sensor with 13 stops of dynamic range, MFT lens mount and compact all-in-one design of the previous model.

Videohub 80×80 12G:  Available in November for US$9,995

  • New zero latency 80×80 12G-SDI router with built in control panel, LCD for labels and live video monitoring, and spin knob for browsing sources.

ATEM 1 M/E 20 and 30 panels: Available in October from US$3,899

  • New larger ATEM 1 M/E Advanced Panel 20 and 30 models feature system control LCDs, control of 4 upstream keyers, 4 downstream keyers and 4 M/E rows.
