Employment services provider, Asuria announced that its upcoming Ballarat Youth Jobs Fest will take place on 27 July, hosted at The Goods Shed on Lydiard Street N. Over 200 young adults in Ballarat are expected to participate in this exciting Youth Jobs Fest held following the tremendous success of its inaugural event in Narre Warren, Victoria, earlier this year.

What can be expected from this year’s edition?

From 11:30 am to 4:00 pm, attendees will immerse themselves take part in engaging activities, food, and music, while benefitting from the invaluable knowledge shared by special guest speaker Shayne Hood, Ballarat-based employers, training providers and Asuria staff.

Additionally, Shayne Hood, a renowned social worker, motivational speaker, and beacon of hope for social justice, will share his experiences of overcoming adversity and staying motivated during challenging times. During the session held in May, Shayne’s message resonated deeply with the crowd, inspiring a sense of limitless potential within each individual.

Also, an open mic session with participants, featuring Shayne Hood and representatives from Asuria’s employer partners, including Ballarat Turf Club, and Go Traffic will see them touch on valuable expertise such as recognising one’s worth, bouncing back from setbacks, excelling in nerve-wracking interviews, and understanding transferable skills between different jobs.

The event will also be attended by representatives from McDonald’s Ballarat, Steel Frame Solutions, Inspire Support, John Valves, Ballarat Group Training and Apprenticeship Support Australia who are eager to offer ready-to-fill job opportunities like roles for young women in nontraditional trades, customer service, barista, kitchen hands, gardeners and many more demonstrating their commitment to nurturing the next generation of talented individuals.

Asuria’s Youth Jobs Fest will serve as a launchpad for young adults aged 15-24, empowering them to understand and seize the numerous opportunities available to them. By providing a supportive and dynamic environment, Asuria fulfils its mission of expanding work and study options for youth while fostering connections with employers and training organisations.

What is the mission behind the initiative?

Asuria’s core mission of its Workforce Australia – Transition to Work program is centered around equipping young people aged 15-24 with the tools and knowledge to understand the opportunities that are available to them and start their professional and educational pursuits.

Commenting on the event, Asuria Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Nicole Grainger-Marsh, said, “We acknowledge the challenges young individuals face when navigating the path from school into either education or work. I commend those who have taken the first step of registering to participate. I encourage young adults in Ballarat to find their path, overcome obstacles, and build meaningful education and career pathways through this event.”

As part of Asuria’s Workforce Australia – Transition to Work program, the Youth Jobs Fest offers young adults the unique opportunity to explore new employment sectors and job opportunities, discover education and training options, seek advice on apprenticeships and traineeships, and even participate in on-the-spot job interviews with local Ballarat employers.

Recognising that not all attendees may be ready for entry into the workforce, Asuria’s Youth Mentors and Leaders will be available to provide guidance on educational opportunities.

Whether pursuing a Certificate in Business, Customer Engagement, Retail, or any other desired path, these highly-experienced mentors will be on-the-ground to ensure that each participant gets the support they need to understand the education options available to them and help them in enrolling and supporting them throughout their training to be successful.

Also, Asuria’s Self-Employment Assistance program has piqued the interest of several young entrepreneurs in Ballarat who are involved in small start-up businesses, and they have registered their enthusiasm to participate in the event. Asuria’s Self-Employment Assistance mentors will be present to assist young adults interested in starting their own businesses.

Building upon the success and numerous positive feedback from the inaugural event in Narre Warren, Asuria is excited to bring the Youth Jobs Fest to Ballarat, free-of-charge, building a future filled with meaningful careers and lifelong success for young adults. The Ballarat Youth Jobs Fest’s big offering this time around is an opportunity to bring a friend with you.
